The efficiency of bitcoin miners, the casual ones at least, are viewed as a problem of profit of the miner vs. the cost of operating, i.e. how much it adds to your electricity bill

My question is, many people already leave their computer on all day, or almost all day. But nobody ever thinks about how much electricity their computer is consuming (at least no one I know refrains from using their computer out of concern for their electricity bill)

Just thought that was a bit strange. In any case, how demanding are miners in terms of electricity, in general? If you can compare them to some other appliance that’d be helpful.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, any help is appreciated!
