TL/DR Google are about to withdraw support for the only interface that exists for this device and Ledger have no plans on providing one. Their advice was “oh we told people about this on social media.. would you like to upgrade to a Nano S?”

I couple of years ago I bought a Ledger Nano (not S) which is just a usb thing with no power or screen and was only usable for storing bitcoin. Subsequently I got a Nano S cos I wanted to store ETH as well. Recently I upgraded the firmware on this and moved over to their new Ledger Live app.

I wanted to hook up my old Nano to this as well but it didn’t work so I submitted a support query and was told “yeah we don’t support that anymore oh and by the way the Chrome app that is the only existing interface is going to be deleted soon so would you like to upgrade to a Nano S? We told everyone about this on social media.”

WTF!! Essentially people who bought one of these, put some bitcoin on it and forgot about it are going to be in for a nasty surprise when they eventually come back and try to use it… If you have the 24 words you can still recover the private key but still – they could have knocked up a native app for this..
