CryptoCurrency : Can someone give me mathematical evidence that long term hodling and buying the dip is more profitable than buying low and selling the pumps?

I only ask because I have a friend who started with much less capital than me and around peak, he hit 6 figures while I was at a quarter million. Instead of hodling throughout the market crash, he traded. He sold every single pump and bought low. Throughout the bear market he turned his 100k into 250k (not shorting or anything, just trading pumps).

Well, I’ve poured an additional 10k of capital into crypto and am stuck at 50k, or 7 BTC, while he has put in nothing, only traded, and has over 25 BTC now.

Is hodling and buying the dip a meme? There’s literally no way I will ever catch up with him a this point and I’m the one who dumped his life savings into crypto while he threw his lunch money in.
