CryptoCurrency : Daily Market Recap – 08/14 – A Third of The Top 100 Crypto Losses Beyond 20 Percent Of Their Value
In what can only be termed as a rout of the altcoins, the August bloodbath has resumed in a gut-wrenching, sweat-inducing, and hair-raising craze. It’s another 2018 low this Tuesday, August 14, after the markets tanked once again after a relatively good day yesterday. Overnight, the bears sank their claws on the markets and the altcoins suffered in levels one cannot even be wry or joke about anymore. The total market capitalization has plunged into another depth as it went below $200 Billion – a level it was in almost a year ago in October in a relatively bullish market. This current market cap is the lowest of this year.
The current market cap is now at $193.8 Billion wiping off more than $25 Billion for the past 24 hours. The daily trade volume is at $15.3 Billion from $16.9 Billion yesterday.
Ethereum (ETH) currently holds the second highest dominance record at 14% share of the market. And yet, or probably because of this, it went into a shock as it dropped like a rock below $300. It was the biggest loser among the Top 10 and the coin has lost an eye-watering -17.00% and currently trading at $264.64. This price is now on the level with its mid-2017 price -since September 15 last year when it briefly dipped to $200. The past week has seen ETH dump 35% from its July high as its market cap dumped nearly $15 Billion.
As a platform for many cryptocurrency and dApp projects, many see ICOs dumping and leaving the market as the main reason for Ethereum’s drop today.
