CryptoCurrency : Why reddit not adopting crypto?

CryptoCurrency : Why reddit not adopting crypto?

We all get excited if some crypto gets adopted somewhere, but most of those “adoptions” are not really adoptions but a clever marketing tricks.

That made me think.

What stopping reddit using a crypto instead of reddit gold? Reddit need to make money in order to maintain the system, fine, they use “reddit gold” – but this is not crypto, and you cannot exchange/buy anything with it.

However, they could convert it to crypto and it would be more usable – example: clone BTC call it “reddit gold coin”, mine few millions first so then you can give out to users for a fee. Introduce it to exchanges, so it’s a win-win. Users can exchange it, give out to other, convert to usd while reddit also profit from it.

If reddit adopts a crypto like this, then this will be a massive step forward.

Am I missing something?
