Ethereum update: Couldn’t data be falsified when inputting into the blockchain in the first instance?

I posted this in r/blockchain but it’s pretty dead so thought I’d post it here too:

I’ve been into blockchain for a while, but one thing I’ve always questioned is; can’t someone just input false data into a blockchain in the first instance?

I.e, say for example we have a blockchain for house deeds, all of the house deeds will need to be inputted into the blockchain to begin with. Couldn’t the person inputting the data falsify a house deed and put it on the blockchain, therefore tricking people into thinking it’s legit? When in reality it doesn’t even exist.

Thanks in advance.
