Ethereum update: Hosting video game ROMs on Ethereum?
With EMU Paradise announcing that it is being forced to take down ROMs, I was wondering how feasible it would be to host some of these on the Ethereum blockchain. According to the rough estimates of price-per-kilobyte I’ve seen, I don’t think it would cost more than a dollar or two to store a 256kb ROM. From there, users would just need a way to read and convert the Ethereum transaction into a ROM file, or emulators could even integrate with the format and do it on-the-fly.
Am I way out in left field here, or is this a reasonable way to ensure that games like this are immortalized?
