Ethereum update: Why do some apps and ICOs not accept transactions sent from contracts?

Why do a lot of apps, ICOs, etc. say to only send funds to them from an EOA wallet and never from a contract?

Complications from them refunding you is one thing I thought of, but is there anything else? After all, if setup correctly a contract could handle refunds by just storing funds from incoming transactions.

My understanding was that transactions sent by a contract should essentially be identical to transactions sent by a wallet address, so it’s odd to see this constantly.

The most recent place I saw this was [coinpayments.net](https://coinpayments.net).

About Ethereum

Ethereum is a decentralized platform that runs smart contracts: applications that run exactly as programmed without any possibility of downtime, censorship, fraud or third-party interference.
