Ripple update: Market cap comparisons
Just to reinforce the fact that market cap comparisons are meaningless…
For all those who like to compare the market cap of XRP to Apple or some other huge asset producing company, to get a true comparison, you need to view it that Ripple is a company that distributes assets (XRP), the same way Apple is a company that distributes assets (iPhones, iPads, MacBooks etc..).
So if you want to compare the market cap of XRP to Apple, you need to include the market value of every Apple produced asset that exists in the world today, including the iPad I’m typing this on. There are more than 1 billion Apple products in active daily use around the world today, not including products sold that are not being actively used. In fact Apple sold their 1 billionth device almost 4 years ago. The value of all of these products on the secondary market is in the 100s of billions, possibly more than 1 trillion.
So next time you hear the market cap fudsters, kindly remind them of this.
