Bitcoin : solution for error message when setting up lightning network & wallet

I was getting this error when unlocking my newly created lightning wallet:

“Primary chain is set to: bitcoin unable to create chain control: unable to connect to bitcoind: status code: 401, response: ”

I double and triple checked everything and couldn’t understand why I couldn’t connect. It was extremely frustrating. I googled around and finally found this post:

It says that some people were getting that error from having a ! or # or @ characters in their rpcpasswords.

My old rpcpassword was:

gnF#cC%7Aen7^Sb

The pound sign, percentage sign and up arrow characters were messing up my lightning wallets ability to connect.

After I changed my rpcpassword to not include any special characters it connected just fine w/o the error on the first try.

I spent like 3 days pissed off and and completely clueless as to why my wallet was having connection issues, so I thought I’d share this for anyone else who might be in the same situation.

Good ,luck ya’ll.
