Ethereum update: Cryptographic functions used in smart contracts



I am trying to find out what kind of cyrptography is used by smart contracts that have been deployed. Are there any (good and bad) cryptographic libraries for use in smart contracts?

I’m thinking of functions like commitment schemes, checking signatures and such.

Until now I haven’t found much and it more or less looks like everybody is writing their own functions and not linking to already deployed libraries, even though this should reduce gas costs. Is there any reason why there are no deployed cryptographic libraries for use or did I just not find them?

The most promising seem to be the sample contracts of open zeppelin or this one on github:
