Ethereum : HYNIX 580 8GB 18 MHS

Ethereum update: HYNIX 580 8GB 18 MHS

– Mining on ethos 1.3.1

– Stock everything

Earlier I posted about my RX 580 Nitro (HYNIX) only getting 18 mhs out of the box. A couple people suggested sending it back to retailer and asking for another one.

My other five RX 580 Nitro just arrived. They all get 26 mhs out of the box in the same environment. I notice these 5 all have Micron memory, not Hynix.

My first thoughts would be that modding the bios of the Hynix could bring it up from 18 mhs to around 26 mhs.

My concerns are, that it seemed a few people pointed out that 18 mhs on Hynix was a clear say that the card was defective and I should send it back. If this is the case, I don’t really want to mess with the bios incase of voiding the warranty or anything like that.

But is there a chance that the fellows in my previous post are incorrect about the card being defective, and perhaps the low hash rate is expected of a Hynix card that is not modded?
