Ethereum update: (New Gaming Rig) Will 2x 1070 FE in SLI optimized for mining outperform a single 1070 FE for gaming?

I’m building a new gaming rig and I want to run 3 monitors in a PLP setup with a 27″ g-sync primary monitor. I have two 1070 FE and I have two options:

1. Put one card in the old tower, under-volt it and optimize it for mining and stick it in a corner to mine 24/7, and use the other card to handle the 3 monitors by itself.

2. Forget about the old tower and put both in the new tower in SLI and under-volt them and optimize for the occasional mining while I’m at work.

This would also be my first endeavor into mining so I am not familiar with how much optimizing a video card for mining affects it’s gaming performance/potential. Anyone have an opinion on either option?
