Ethereum : Question for if I need a new riser on my 8 card rig

Ethereum update: Question for if I need a new riser on my 8 card rig

Actually two:

1) Right now one gpu is lit, but the fan is not spinning and the gpu isn’t recognized on ethOS. As far as ethOS is concerned, I only have 7 cards. Should I disconnect the power supply to the card or the connection from the riser to the motherboard? I’m wondering if either of those methods will save me a little electricity cost or maybe extend the life of the card (if it’s off rather than lit)

2) Is a riser swap an easy procedure? is it as simple as buying a new one and replacing the old one and I’m good to go, or are there numerous confusing steps necessary (like pretty much everything pertaining to mining crypto…)?
