Ethereum update: RX480 Sapphire Nitro Plus Core Fluctuates + Temp high
Hi everyone. Sorry for the detailed post but I am struggling with one card and (possible) overall performance.
My rig has the following specs: (Readings from MSI Afterburner)
GPU0: RX480 4GB Nitro Sapphire Plus – Power (-11), Core (1180), Mem (1955), Temp (72 deg Cel)
GPU1: RX580 8GB Asus Strix – Power (-7), Core (1092), Mem (1955), Temp (59 – 60 deg Cel)
**PROBLEM CARD: GPU2:** RX480 4GB Nitro Sapphire Plus – Power (-11), Core fluctuates between 1000mhz and 1200mhz, Mem (1955), Temp (78 deg Cel)
GPU3: RX580 8GB Asus Strix – Power (0), Core (1360), Mem (2050), Temp (59 – 60 deg Cel)
GPU4: RX580 8GB Asus Strix – Power (0), Core (1360), Mem (2050), Temp (52 – 53 deg Cel)
GPU5: RX580 8GB Asus Strix – Power (0), Core (1180), Mem (1955), Temp (59 – 60 deg Cel)
The RX480 4GB Sapphire Nitro Plus card core clocks fluctuate slightly (which doesn’t really affect performance) but my concern is the temperatures it is hitting which is 78 degrees Celsius.
The other 4 cards (RX580 8GB) + other RX480 is fine, lowest temp is 52 deg and highest temp is 60 deg so not too worried there.
I have had to drop the power limit on the RX480 cards to make sure they don’t go over 80 deg. On my 6 card rig I get 170 – 171 M/H total. System is stable but I can’t push it further. I am only making use of Afterburner to adjust settings.
People are saying don’t stress about 80 deg and others are telling me that I am crazy running at those temp.
Question:
1. What can I do to drop the temp of that one card?
2. How can I possibly look at pushing my cards to hit 30 M/H each?
