Ethereum update: What ‘ Casper Sharding ‘ means for Proof of Work and Miners?

Ethereum Core team has announced that they will make a change and add sharding, I don’t really get what it is, Anyone here to explain us how this affects miners and current proof of work algo and when they will start rolling out PoS/Sharding?
