Ripple update: Futuristic & Insightful piece on why XRP & ILP will be massive

Disclaimer: I am the author, and it’s my opinion that my piece below is both insightful and futuristic. Also, I needed to clickbait you to read it! Enjoy.

**Payments are intimately linked to information** nowadays, online, for example:

– Paying for membership to an exclusive pick up artist forum

– Paying for tips and tricks to your inbox to keep up with the latest fashion trends

– Paying for access to art: music (itunes, spotify, etc.) video (youtube, netflix) and images (I don’t have an example but I’m sure it exists). This one is almost compulsory to keep up with normal daily conversations: “Did you see the Ozark? It’s awesome…”

– Indirectly paying, to know what gift is cool enough for your quirkey relative! – You indirectly pay due to amazon affiliate links. You find out what’s cool, and later search amazon for it. If you search within 30 days, the original blog earns commission.

As you can see the above examples vary massively, each relating to specific demographics.

**Information is a key driver of EVERYTHING**. That really does deserve capitals. Allow me to explain. I’m an electronic engineer by study, programmer by trade, and regularly wondering about philosophical, futuristic, or alternative things. This gives me a particular range of insights, from the engineering to the philosophical, and ordered as such below:

– Engineering/software: this is at a high level of abstraction, in terms of our present existence. Some of us work with computers – some of us even writing applications for them as a daily task, most of us have one on our person at all time, I could go on, but you get it. At the core of these devices is information – zeroes and ones. It’s what every application is based on (in various layers – 0/1 -> opcodes -> assembely -> C -> application -> social media)

– Information is what drives human communication – be it on Facebook, or SMS, or old school, face to face. Communication between a species is massively important to the species, to help them form alliances, scare enemies, attract victims, and ultimately, survive.

– This (unexpectedly) leads me perfect to my last point: Existence itself. Lets just assume that existence == consciousness, which sprouts from our brain – which has evolved from shooting jets of water in the ocean. Humans evolved by surviving, from that jet of water surviving, to the compounds it generated after, to the bacteria to the fish to the lizard to the rodent to the chimp to human (that’s the order!). And we survived, with information, see above point.

See, information is absolutely core to existence, and more so to future existence, where it looks like evolution will involve technology more and more – remember 2001 A Space Oddessy opening scene, and the bone suddenly turning into a spaceship – that blew my mind. Recall what Elon said during the Joe Rogan interview, next gen human-machine interactions.

I think I have proved this point.

**Payments are Blocked**. It’s faster to fly a suitcase of cash to the other side of the world than it is to send it through your bank. At least that’s what I’ve been told, many times, by Brad – he keeps repeating it because it’s absolutely key. Faster payments unblocks payments, **which unblocks information** and communications. Advancements will be made, and ILP and XRP will be key to it.
