Ripple update: Where will banks source their xrp liquidity?


If banks use Ripple’s Xrapid software to make seamless cross border payments, and the Xrapid software is seamlessly making a conversion from USDs to XRPs, then XRPs to the final destination currency, where are these XRP’s being sourced from?

I’ve heard that Ripple will perform the role of market maker by bearing all risk of price fluctuations during the 3 second transfer. Does this mean that Ripple is operating their own exchange?
